April 24, 2024, Asuncion, Paraguay: ''This website has been seized,'' the warning from U.S. officials is displayed on Samourai Wallet's website. The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) announced today the unsealing of an Indictment charging Keonne Rodriguez, the Chief Executive Officer and a co-founder of Samourai Wallet, and William Hill, the Chief Technology Officer and also a co-founder of Samourai, with conspiracy to commit money laundering and conspiracy to operate an unlicensed money transmitting business. The pair developed, marketed and operated the cryptocurrency mixer, which ''executed over $2 billion in unlawful transactions and facilitated more than $100 million in money laundering transactions from illegal dark web markets, such as Silk Road and Hydra Market,'' DOJ said in a press release issued Wednesday. The Samourai Wallet website has been seized, and a seizure warrant for Samourai's mobile application was served on the Google Play Store. (Credit Image: © Andre M. Chang/ZUMA Press Wire)
