The white powder was put on the market by Friedr. Bayer AG & Co. (today Farbenfabriken) 100 years ago. Today, each year 50,000t of Aspirin are produced worldwide. Bayer alone sells 11 million small white Aspirin pills in over 70 countries each year. However, a weak world economy and rising oil prices had a negative effect on Bayer's balance of 2002. Born to a samurai family in Hiroshima, Japan, Eiji Oue started his musical education at age four. He later studied conducting at the Toho School of Music and at the New Engand Conservatory. From 1991 to 1995 Eiji Oue served as musical director at the Erie Philharmonic Orchestra, following a post in the same position at the Minnesota Orchestra, a post he held for seven years until July 2002. Since 1997 Eiji is also musical director of the Grand Teton Music Festival in Wyoming, and since the 1998/1999 season of the Radio Philharmonie Hannover of the German broadcasting station NDR. In May 2003 Eiji Oue is to give his debut as music director of the Osaka Philharmonic Orchestra.

The first part of Ashkenazy's long career as a musician was devoted to the piano. He studies at the Central School of Music and at the Moscow Conservatoire and then spent three decades touring the great musical centres of the world, performing a recital and concerto repertoire. From the 1970s onwards, Ashkenazy became increasingly active as a conductor and held positions over the years with the Philharmonia Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Cleveland Orchestra and the Deutsches Symphonie Orchester Berlin.
