20231001_zia_c218_021 October 1, 2023, Stafford, Staffordshire, United Kingdom: After Britainâ??s wonkiest pub, The Crooked House in Staffordshire, burnt down on 5 August 2023, there was a national outcry - with the fire and subsequent demolition of the architectural curiosity leaving a community heartbroken....However, the pub has been reborn in miniature form thanks to a touring exhibition of modelmaker David Wrightâ??s works. .Wright created the model from pictures he took of the pub when he visited several years ago, when his curiosity was piqued by a Christmas gift of a book titled Strangest Pubs in Britain. .Over the course of approximately 80 hours, he meticulously crafted the replica using modelling clay and card, capturing every idiosyncrasy that had made the original drinking hole so extraordinary..Now, Mr. Wright is sharing his astonishing model with the world. Exhibitions across the country are featuring his creation, with it debuting at The Stafford Model Railway Exhibition - not far from Himley, the home of the original pub. .Wright said his model was â??well receivedâ? at the exhibition - with crowds flocking to see the pub reborn. The model moved on to Wirksworth, Derbyshire from 30 September to 1 October. It will next appear at Mickleover Model Railway Exhibition from 7 to 8 October, then itâ??s on to The Great British Model Railway Show at The National Motor Museum, Gaydon, Warwickshire on 28 and 29 October. It concludes its tour at the Manchester Model Railway Exhibition from 2- 3 December 2023, though may be shown at more exhibitions next year..The Crooked House fire and demolition sparked a police investigation into suspected arson. Five arrests have been made so far on charges relating suspicion of arson or conspiracy to commit arson. Although locals are campaigning to have the pub rebuilt, experts have said this could prove difficult and costly...Where: Stafford, Staffordshire, United Kingdom. When: 01 Oct 2023.
