The artist made small modelli, or preparatory works, of these paintings to send to the King for approval; The Annunciation is one. Masucci completed the full-size versions of these three paintings and shipped them to the King in 1747. The paintings were executed in mosaic in the chapel of St. John the Baptist within the Church by 1752.

Three reliefs decorate the walls: the creation of Eve; the Fall, when Adam and Eve disobey God by eating an apple from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil; and their subsequent expulsion from paradise. In fact, the Virgin Mary here stands as a 'New Eve,' the Savior in her sinless womb, who has come to redeem humanity from Adam and Eves sin.
