He reaches out his hand to his son Aristotle, who is standing in front of him. He is characterized by a somewhat shorter beard and a firmer chest than the younger one. Around 430 B.C, marble funerary monuments reappear in Athens: reliefs, steles and vessels. They are components of burial districts, some of which are monumental: These terraces have a height of 2 to 4 m and a length of up to 18 m. As a result, the monuments are becoming larger and more elaborate. They serve to commemorate the dead, but also testify to the wealth and need for representation of their patrons, an increasing individualism and a high level of craftsmanship in art.
